Simpson helmets are about to make a comeback with a new look and feel.
A new team of footballs will be manufactured by the German-owned manufacturer, with the aim of replacing the old-fashioned headgear worn by the nation’s elite footballers.
The helmet, which is a bit bigger than the ones used by Italy’s best-known players, is made of a carbon fibre composite, similar to the kind of material used to make the helmets worn by Germany’s famous stars.
It will be made for the first time in Italy.
It’s the first of the Simpson helmets to be made in the country since 2005, when a team of players from the national team wore them for a World Cup qualifier.
