Ducati has announced a new Monster M2 bike, a version of its new Monster 2 which has been built in the US.
Ducati says the bike is “designed to achieve maximum performance for the rider” with the bike equipped with an “extraordinary level of power” thanks to a 4WD version of the Monster 2 engine.
The Ducati motorcycle was initially launched in January, but the Monster M1 will be available in a limited edition of 5,000 units at the end of this year, with an expected launch in the summer.
According to Ducati, the Monster will be a “modernized version” of the original Monster, with a more powerful engine and new forks, all of which will help to deliver the new bike’s performance.
“This Monster M 2 is the best of all possible worlds, a bike that combines both power and style to achieve the ultimate in performance, comfort and beauty,” Ducati said in a press release.
“With the new engine and fork, the rider will be able to reach higher and faster speeds.
This bike is a great example of the kind of performance we are aiming for in our future motorcycles.”
The new bike will be sold in Europe, with sales expected to start in the second half of 2019.
In 2017, Ducati made a splash with the Monster XR10 R, the first Ducati to use the Monster powertrain in a motorcycle.
At the time, Ducatissima said that it was the fastest bike in its class, and its power came from a four-cylinder engine that was tuned to produce up to 800 horsepower and 900 pound-feet of torque.
This Ducati monster is a direct-injection inline four-stroke with a displacement of 650cc, and will be powered by a six-speed gearbox, along with Ducati’s new “Monster” sub-frame, which is a special tubular chassis with a carbon fiber shell.
As for its engine, Ducato says it will be “inertially dampened” by the new four-wheel drive system.
We will see what kind of traction the new Monster has in the real world next year.
