LIFE IN THE FOREST!BUILD A SHELTER FOR YOURSELF AND FOR DOGS IN 10 DAYS

Life in the Woods: Build a Shelter for You and Your Dog in 10 Days

Life in the woods is always an exciting and memorable challenge. It is not only an opportunity to connect with nature, but also an opportunity to challenge yourself, learn to be independent and make the most of what nature has to offer. Over 10 days, you and your canine companion will build a safe and cozy shelter that will protect you from harsh weather and create a sense of comfort in the wild.

Days 1-2: Explore and choose a location

First, you need to find an ideal place to build a shelter. The area should be close to a clean water source such as a stream or a small lake, but not too close to avoid the risk of flooding. The location should also be away from areas at risk of landslides, rotting trees, or wildlife caves. Once you have chosen a location, clear the surrounding area to begin construction.

Days 3-5: Build a Shelter
Based on the materials available in the forest, you can build a simple but effective shelter.

Main frame: Use large, sturdy branches to make a frame. Build an A-frame or a hut against a large tree trunk

.

Cover: Palm leaves, small branches, or bark can be used to make a roof, helping to block out rain and keep warm.

Ground: Spread dry leaves or grass on the ground to insulate, helping you and your dog avoid direct contact with the cold ground.

Days 6-7: Make an area for the dog
Your dog also needs some space. Build a small corner with a roof near the main shelter, using similar materials. Place a layer of dry leaves as a bed for it. This is also a place for the dog to rest after hours of accompanying you to explore the forest.

Days 8-9: Create Comfort and Find Food
Once your shelter is complete, start adding amenities:

Fire Area: Choose a safe, remote location to make a fire area. This will provide light, warmth, and also help keep wild animals away.

Food Source: Learn to identify edible plants and fruits, or prepare simple traps to catch fish. Don’t forget to bring dry food for your dog, in case you can’t find a suitable natural food source.

Day 10: Finish and Enjoy
On the last day, you can spend time checking and reinforcing your shelter, making sure it is durable enough to handle bad weather. Then, enjoy the freedom and relaxation of the forest, relaxing with your dog by the fire, listening to the birds chirping and the leaves rustling.

Life Lessons from the Forest
Ten days in the forest will not only help you understand nature better, but also teach you how to live a minimalist and self-sufficient life. The friendship between you and your dog also becomes stronger as you both overcome challenges. It is a memorable journey, bringing balance and new inspiration to life.

Life in the forest is not easy, but every moment contains precious values. Try it once to feel the magic of nature and yourself!
